The neck mechanism also allows you to add a Custom Series neck should you wish to later on, thus extending the life of the instrument by allowing for that featured upgrade. The YTS-480 Tenor features a hand-engraved bell which adds an element of extra aesthetic class.
This results in a fuller, richer sound with more projection. This is due to the more open taper in the neck and the slightly thicker gauge brass and construction which adds a very small amount of extra weight compared to the 280.
The Yamaha 480 Tenor Sax has a slightly broader and fuller sound than the student YTS-280. We find it to be an excellent value Saxophone for advancing players and woodwind doublers. It is positioned between the student YTS-280 model and the professional YTS-62. The Yamaha YTS-480 Tenor Saxophone has an authoritative Tenor sound and benefits from some improvements on the old YTS-475 model.
